I blame Stereogum.
I’ve been trying to deny my stalker-like attraction to Cat Power a.k.a. Chan Marshall,
I try to avoid situations which would force me to listen to her sultry voice, look into her smoky eyes and think about this nymph too often.
but then I wake up this morning and Stereogum’s decided to feature her performance of “New York, New York” on Leno.
how could you not love a woman like this?So i’ve spent the last hour or so, combing Youtube and watching other videos of this sometimes musically underwhelming, but always seductive singer.
“Barry: I wanna date a musician.
Rob Gordon: I wanna live with a musician. She’d write songs at home and ask me what I thought of them, and maybe even include one of our little private jokes in the liner notes.
Barry: Maybe a little picture of me in the liner notes.
Dick: Just in the background somewhere. ”
