An amazing press release from Christian Eminem imitator rapper KJ-52, which needs no comment:

KJ-52 has an uncanny ability to reach the youth of today in a clever and hip manner. It may be through the subject matter of his music, his tech savviness that connects hims to his fans on a continual basis (twitter, blogs, etc.), or his ultimate mission to point others to God through his work. With the release of his new project “Five Two Television,” his weekly video devotions, and currently touring on the “Modern Day Heroes” tour with Group 1 Crew, KJ-52 is continually staying busy reaching out to his fans. We are excited to announce KJ-52’s follow up single to his hit “End Of My Rope” titled “Calling You” (Featuring J.R.). “Calling You” will be hitting the rock airwaves 2/26!

KJ-52 describes “Calling You” as a single, “filled with text message speak (LOL, TTYL, etc.) and is an analogy of God’s text message (His word) and how God seeks to have us in a relationship and just like others try to get ahold of us with a text. God does the same thing with his text (The Bible).”

Don’t miss out on this catchy and relevant single “Calling You”! Seeking add commitments for 2/26 at Rock radio!

The CCM Patrol has gotten so few tips lately that we were starting to doubt that shit like this was still being made. Alas. And yay.

  1. I was actually thinking about this yesterday when I had to keep skipping KJ-52 on Pandora. He is such a joke! His music sucks, he is obviously attempting to be the Christian version of Eminem (and failing miserably!)

Christian music has made strides in the last ten years. There are Christians artists that are actually artists, making creative and honest music. It’s unfortunate that we still have “artists” like this. What a joke.

And, a song about text messages from God sounds… I don’t even know how to comment on how stupid that is.

thanks for keeping this no longer than necessary. no editorial needed. perfect.

  3. nathan says:

this is what happens when the cosmic forces of sessions and martin are in alignment…

and no one wants to do real work.

  4. steve says:

    who cares?

anyhoo, Jennifer Knapp is back and will supposedly go on tour with one Derek Webb.

see? good music happens, too! you should report on that!!!

  5. If by chance you would like to hear a Christian that happens to be white do some rapping, check out John Reuben—especially “The Boy vs. The Cynic” — the lyrics could just as easily be posted as thought provoking Patrol articles.

KJ-52 on the other hand…. kills a kitten every time he speaks over a beat.

  6. I definitely agree with Joshua. John Reuben is an extremely gifted musician and lyricist. He doesn’t get even close to the recognition he deserves.

  7. Rebecca says:

Brilliantly editorialized. I applaud you, Patrol.

  8. Oscar says:

As much as I love John Reuben—The Boy vs. the Cynic and Word of Mouth are two of my favourite albums ever—and appreciate his immense quotability and Beckish creativity, I must warn that his flow can be, well, very white. Not that he can really help that, but it might turn off some listeners.
