new album

A good thing started last night, even if you missed it.

Long Beach, CA. exports its best musical product to the East Coast for the next week as folk-rockers Delta Spirit try out tracks from their second LP, "History from Below" in a sequence of dates in the teeny of tiny clubs.

We first covered Delta on Patrol two years ago this March, and in the months following that cold road trip, this fantastic group of guys has picked up ears and buzz. They've played the festivals, toured Europe, and keep bringing the energy and passion to their live shows.

Sincere honesty, spine-chilling intensity and killer hooks could be trademarked by this young band. Ode to Sunshine was the most underrated release of 2008 and, with the added fans and maturity, History from Below could be huge.

I've been up for awhile already and the words are stumbling.

But, there is one show that isn't sold out for this preview tour, at the Kung Fu Necktie in Philadelphia on Feb. 9, so if you're in the area, please do your ears a favor and catch the show. This may be one of the last times that you get to see these guys in a tiny hall.

I'll be at DC9 twice in the next week, do whatever it takes to see these guys, and check out a few of my favorite video snapshots of their world.

  1. The streetcar video from San Fran has to be one of my favorite things of 2010 so far.
