A little sympathy for Led Zeppelin:
Unfortunately, there’s too much love for the White Stripes here. I mean he’s comparing the band that released IV to the band whose high point was Elephant… bad form.
And I know the Stones haven’t been at a creative peak for quite a while, but I disagree that the “Let It Bleed through Goat’s Head Soup” run of albums from them sounds like it stalled in time. I’ll put songs on _Beggar’s Banquet_ and _Sticky Fingers_ (not to mention Exile on Main Street) up against ANY recent release and guarantee those RS releases still sound just as vital as any new-big-thing touted in Pitchfork.
